In the field of security surveillance, breaking free from dependence on fixed power sources and stable broadband networks to achieve truly "wire-free and network-free" deployment has become an irreversible industry trend.
However, the core challenge for such devices has always been battery life, especially during consecutive rainy days or seasons with insufficient sunlight. Traditional solutions often fail due to rapid battery depletion, leading to monitoring interruptions and significantly diminished user experience.
The ability to provide uninterrupted, highly reliable monitoring under harsh environmental constraints has become a key indicator of whether a wireless surveillance product is competitive.
Today, AEGLEOS is pioneering the introduction of Neo AOV technology, innovatively proposing that devices "achieve perception and analysis of the external environment and their own status," thereby pushing energy efficiency to its limite.
01 Regarding Different 'Wake-up Technologies'
First, let's revisit the "predecessors" of Neo AOV—PIR (Passive Infrared Detection) and AOV (Always On Video).
PIR technology is the most classic sensing method. It does not act proactively but passively detects changes in infrared radiation emitted by objects (primarily heat-emitting living beings) in the environment.
Only when a target with a specific temperature (like human body temperature) moves within the detection zone, causing a change in the infrared energy pattern received by the sensor, does the PIR trigger an alarm, light, or start recording.
The main advantage of PIR lies in its extremely low power consumption, waking other devices only upon detecting movement, effectively saving energy and storage space.
But its limitations are also evident: detection relies on heat source movement, is susceptible to interference from ambient temperature changes and non-target heat sources (e.g., pets, hot air currents), leading to potential false alarms; and it can only provide partial clips, unable to deliver continuous 24/7 recording.
AOV is more intelligent. As the name Always On Video suggests, it enables 24/7 recording. This technology allows the device to remain in a deep sleep, low-power state most of the time, but briefly activates the sensor at fixed intervals (e.g., every 2 seconds) to capture a single frame. The purpose is to maintain a continuous recording state. When the AI algorithm identifies a preset target (like a person), the device immediately wakes from sleep and switches to full frame rate (e.g., 25fps) smooth recording mode, fully record the event. This ultimately generates a visual recording time line covering the entire day.
Compared to PIR, AOV offers a detection distance of 20 meters (twice that of PIR) and a detection angle of 90 degrees (1.3 times that of PIR).
Currently, AOV technology is the most popular and common on the market. But AEGLEOS did not stop there, continually exploring technological advancements, leading to the grand debut of Neo AOV.
02 'Neo AOV' Redefines Low Power Consumption
Building upon AOV, Neo AOV achieves a further level of intelligence. Its core is an "Intelligent Adaptive Energy Management System," significantly enhancing device battery life and environmental adaptability. Neo AOV can make corresponding adjustments by continuously monitoring ambient light conditions and the device's battery level.
When light is sufficient and battery power is ample, the system automatically switches to "High-Performance Mode." In this mode, before being triggered by an AI event, the device can capture single frames at intervals as short as 1 second. Event capture speed is also faster, ensuring highly continusly and detail-rich all-day AOV footage.
However, when light is insufficient (e.g., night, rainy days) or battery level is low, the system seamlessly switches to "Energy-Saving Mode." This mode employs refined resource management strategies, automatically and appropriately extending the interval between snapshot monitoring. It maximizes the reduction of non-essential energy consumption while ensuring the reliability of core AI identification and recording trigger functions.
Furthermore, this technology achieves a 20% improvement in startup speed through optimized power-saving mechanisms. The supplementary light only illuminates during the precise moments necessary for the image sensor to operate, reducing use of lights by 80% compared to traditional solutions, greatly reduce lighting energy consumption. Overall device power consumption is reduced by 50%.
The significant reduction in power consumption directly translates to a leap in battery life. Professional testing by the AEGLEOS Research Institute shows that devices equipped with Neo AOV achieve a doubling in continuous operation time. This fixs user concerns about insufficient battery life during rainy periods, ensuring stable 7x24 uninterrupted video surveillance even under all low-light conditions.
